Q: In Fine Arts we can find a term ‘pentimento’. This Italian word means ‘an alteration in a painting, evidenced by traces of previous work.’ In one of your lectures you also used the synonymous word — palimpsest — which means ‘something reused or altered but still bearing visible traces of its earlier form.’ The similar phenomenon we can observe in history of Vedic literature. So my question is, how Vedic literature, which descends from the Infinite source, and being immaculate, can be coloured with finite mental impressions of imperfect jiva-souls? — Layers of mental impressions on the mind. — Krishna acknowledges that even divine revelation can become less than that in time, so the fresh one is needed. — Truth becomes modified according to the temperament of the recipient. — Bhaktivinod Thakur course corrected the line of succession. — Every disciple has to be vigilant in hearing and reproduction to others. — Vaishnavas reveal the relevance of the scriptures to us. — Shiksha-guru-parampara. — The current is what is vital to us. — The divine inspiration that's passing through the Vaishnava agent — that is Sri Guru. — Where the dear devotees appear — that is the super-auspicious place. — In Gaura-lila the devotees recognize each other by their devotional tendencies. — Hanuman-Bhima-Madhavacharya-Murari Gupta: different forms, but consistent thread of devotion. — Q: In in the prayers of Lord Brahma to Krishna (SB 10.14.36), we read: "My dear Lord Krishna, until people become Your devotees, their material attachments and desires remain thieves, their homes remain prisons, and their affectionate feelings for their family members remain foot-shackles." If the basis of reality is love and affection personified, and His adi-rasa is the original source — how can we tell the difference between false and real affection? — Real love and affection is expressed towards Krishna and His devotees and false ones — towards bodily connections. — Krishna-prem is so hear-devouring that one will die in separation. — Radharani's sacrifice is the highest. — Stages preceding Krishna-prem. — Proper method of approach: to be in want. Lamentation has value.
